The Ministry of Production of Peru, in cooperation with Korea¡¯s Small and medium Business Corporation (SBC), has developed Healthcare Program, a business diagnostic and advisory services for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The development has been carried out by Peru¡¯s Technical Office of Technology Innovation Centers (OTCIT) under the Ministry, in the framework of the APEC¡¯s SME Working Group activities. Through the program, SBC¡¯s two experts have advised five Peruvian SMEs in the metal working sector for productivity improvement: three companies of the Industrial Park of Villa El Salvador and two from the northern part.

In the meantime, a seminar titled "Consulting Program for SMEs: Healthcare Program" was held on July 6, 2012 in Peru, with the support of Peru¡¯s Small Industry Committee of the National Society of Industries (COPEI-SNI).

The SME Healthcare Program is a "clinic" advice regarding business management and technology to help enhance productivity. The methodology includes the visit of experts to diagnose the applicant company¡¯s problems and provide a prescription accordingly right after the diagnosis.

Based on their working relationship established in 2011, the Ministry of Production of Peru and Korea¡¯s SBC singed the Inter-Institutional Cooperation Agreement on July 6, 2012. The agreement is expected to facilitate technical cooperation and experience sharing between the two countries with regard to SME policies and support programs (consulting and training, etc.) for promoting better business management, technology development, innovation, new technology-based start-ups. In addition, the two parties will be able to exchange information, at the request for cooperation, on the companies involved in joint projects between the Republic of Korea and Peru.
