2006 APEC SME Innovation Leader Workshop
Purpose
The 2006 APEC SME Innovation Leader Workshop will serve as a training project to provide opportunities for participants to learn and discuss successful policies and cases of SME innovation promotion in the APEC region, to let participants share innovation experiences and discuss their own issues with one another, and to help training participants grow into 'APEC SME innovation leaders' through the establishment of a human network.

-Trainees: 23 or less officials in charge of SME innovation at government and support organizations in APEC developing member economies including Korea
- Lecturers: 13 experts on SME innovation policies and government officials practicing SME innovation policies from APEC developed member economiecs)

Program
The SME Innovation Leader Workshop is a six-day event, comprised of five sessions and a welcoming reception and a farewell dinner.

Session I features an entrance ceremony, a workshop orientation, a keynote speech on trends and directions of SME innovation promoting policies and ice breakers. Session II is designed to introduce participants to SME innovation promoting policies. The session consists of comprehensive and specific innovation policies. Especially comprehensive innovation policies encompass raising awareness of innovation, policies for SME innovation in Korea and the results of the comparison study on SME innovation promoting policies in major member economies. Session III is devoted to giving participants first-hand experiences on the outcomes of SME innovation through field trips. Session IV is dedicated to presentations by workshop participants on the success cases of SME innovation in their own member economy and discussions on relevant issues with one another. Session V (optional) is intended to offer participants a chance to experience Korean culture.

To make the workshop be beneficial to the participants, much time of all lectures will be allotted to questions and answers to revolve around discussions.
