  Background

  The Jeju Initiative on APEC Startup Alliance: Connecting APEC Startup Ecosystem endorsed at the 31^st APEC SME Ministerial Meeting in 2025 states APEC Startup Network as one of priority activities to be implemented.

  Goals and Objectives

  Goals: To support the APEC Putrajaya Vision 2040 and Aotearoa Plan of Action, the APEC Startup Network aims to:

  • Build a connected and collaborative startup ecosystem across APEC economies;
  • Drive innovation and digital growth across the APEC region by fostering an enabling environment for startups;
  • Promote resilient, balanced, and sustainable APEC regional growth by empowering startups.

  Objectives: In alignment with the above listed goals and the ECOTECH Medium-Term Priorities, the key objectives of the APEC Startup Network are:

  • To empower startups by promoting cross-border collaboration among APEC startup ecosystem stakeholders
  • To facilitate capacity building and knowledge sharing on innovation and digital growth
  • To strengthen the flow of information and foster an enabling environment for startups

  Membership

  • APEC SME Working Group (SMEWG) members;
  • Startup ecosystem stakeholders endorsed by SMEWG, including but not limited to startups, government agencies, universities, investors, incubators, and accelerators.
